Voters went to the polls on Thursday and the 47 districts are counting around the region this evening, with the results set to be fed into the Eastern region count in Essex.

Results are not allowed to be declared until 10pm.

Last time the elections were fought the Conservatives won three seats, the UK Independence Party won two, with Labour and the Liberal Democrats each with a seat.

But David Campbell Bannerman, who won the seat for UKIP, defected to the Conservatives.

  • Looks like the next coalition partner to the Tories could be UKIP, or, in a bid of desperation, a grand coalition of the two main party Oligarchies. As yet we do not know how many of the cast votes were spoiled but soon the wider disaffection with the political system will come to the fore. The Tories will not shift the EU referendum forward, so Cameron said this morning and the Lib Dems, desperately swimming to keep up with the floaters, think that dumping Clegg will change everything, what a bunch of poor deluded souls.
