Eric Joyce, the MP who got arrested after fighting in a House of Commons bar earlier this year, is on Channel 4 news later.
Apparently he wasn’t quite certain that his political career was dead, and so went on just to make sure.
He told the programme: “I think there’s room for a bit of consensual low level violence. If a couple of guys want to have a fight outside a pub and no-one gets terribly injured then I really don’t think that’s a matter for the police to get involved.
“People are allowed to have consensual sado-masochistic sex and that’s allowed and it seems to me that broadly it fits into the same bracket.”
Talking about the fight that saw him headbut four MPs in the Strangers bar, he said: “The whole thing happened because I’d been drinking and I got quite fighty. In the past, I have been of a fairly physical nature; never related to alcohol, just keen to pile in.”
A service at a Sikh temple in Norwich spiralled out of control when police were called to break up a brawl.
