Jen Hamilton-Emery (pictured) has been co-opted on to Cromer Town Council.
Mrs Hamilton-Emery fills the vacancy created by the death of Keith Johnson, who died in December. She stood for the Labour Party in last month’s Cromer by-election to fill Mr Johnson’s seat on North Norfolk District Council and was beaten into second place by Liberal Democrat candidate Andreas Yiasimi.
Terrorism returned to the streets of London today as two suspected Muslim fanatics butchered a man in broad daylight in the name of “Allah”.

Game playing, David, undemocratic, party political game playing, defend it by all means, but it shows the public what is happening when twin hatters are unhappy and take their own life and that of others. Be ashamed for perpetuating it, very ashamed. This tragedy should have resulted in a Rubicon moment, when the health and safety of individuals doing too much public service are taking into account, not brushed under the carpet. Twin and triple hatters should be discouraged, not seen as trophy and perk hunters with gusto, they neglect their families and constituencies alike, serving non to satisfaction. Party political machinations that have nothing to do with democracy and we wonder why nobody ask for an election. Why did Cromer Town council not appoint a random Citizen willing to do the job, are they scared of the public? Or was it the economic prowess that shooed them?

Cromer Town Council haven't undertaken ANY election - costly or otherwise! The public have an opportunity for an election but it wasn't requested so the next step was co-opting. The District Council By-Election WAS requested by the public to be held when it was. The result of that election was Andreas Yiasimi getting elected.

Good point though Ingo. Why couldn't that election have waited until May with county elections and saved us all money?
