Visitors to Holt could be able to see what is happening in the town centre after town councillors backed an idea for a new webcam.

Members at a full meeting this week voted in favour of the CCTV-style camera to be fitted on to Bakers and Larners.

If fitted, freeze frame images could be screened on www.holttowncouncil.org by the end of this year to attract visitors to the town.

It would not be used for crime purposes for the police.

There would potentially be a one-off payment of £400 for the camera, from the town council.

  • As long as the web cam is used for the sole purpose of attracting visitors to Holt I can't see any problem or need to object.

  • If the decision making process of the Town Council is anything to go by there won`t be a lot to see. They used to be indecisive; but now they can`t make their minds up about anything from car parks for visitors to use to what one retailer wants to sell in its new store. Time really does stand still in Holt.
