Who needs sleep? A night of drama is in store as the general election results come in. Here's when the key results are likely to come through.

The polls closed at 10pm, with the exit poll - predicting a possible hung parliament - published shortly afterwards.

As results started to trickle in, Labour took the first two seats to declare, party strongholds Newcastle Central and Sunderland & Houghton South, increasing its share of the vote in each.

But when can we expect the result of the results, including those in our region?

1am: The first wave of other results will start to come in from across the UK

2.30am: We might learn if Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has held Islington North

3am: Lib Dem leader Tim Farron's should find out if he's safe in Westmorland and Lonsdale

4am: The first Norfolk and Suffolk results could start coming through. South Norfolk and Norwich South and Mid Norfolk could come through at about this time.

4.30am: Prime minister Theresa May will find out if the voters of Maidenhead still want her as their Conservative MP. (It's one of the Tories safest seats…)

5am: By about this time we should know what has happened in North Norfolk and whether it's Labour's Stephen Burke, Lib Dem Norman Lamb or Conservative James Wild who is celebrating. North West Norfolk and South West Norfolk may be known.

5.30am: The likes of Great Yarmouth and Norwich North should have declared by this time.

6.30am – 8am: The last stragglers come. Broadland and Waveney may be among the later results.

For a party to have a majority in the Houses of Parliament, they will need 326 seats. The exit poll has predicted 314 for the Conservatives, 266 for Labour, 14 for the Liberal Democrats, 34 for the SNP, one Green, no UKIP and 21 other.
