Residents in Thetford will be able to pick up a complementary coffee as a thank you for casting their vote in the election.

On Thursday the Light Cinema will be giving away any free coffee or tea on presentation of a polling card.

Simon Pinches, general manager at the cinema on the Riverside Complex, said it was the company's way of rewarding people for taking part in 'an important civic duty'.

He said: 'We want to be part of the community and give something back to people who vote. Voting is very important.

'People have been voting quite a lot over the past few years so they might be in need of a coffee.'

He added: 'Hopefully it will be popular. If we can get an extra few people out to vote than that is good.'

People can pick up their free beverage at the cinema, which has its own cafe called The Green Room, between 8.30am and 10pm.
