General Election 2017: Boxing legend Frank Bruno to fight Norman Lamb’s corner in contest for North Norfolk

The contest for the North Norfolk seat at next week’s General Election has taken another twist.
Following several high-profile visits from Conservative ministers backing their candidate James Wild, Liberal Democrat candidate Norman Lamb has received heavyweight support from boxing legend Frank Bruno.
The former WBC heavyweight champion will be at the Market in North Walsham town centre on Thursday from 11.30am to meet with locals residents as the election campaign enters its final week.
Since meeting Mr Lamb during his time as a Health Minister, the pair have worked together on a number of initiatives to improve mental health support.
Bruno, who is not party political, is a long-time ambassador for people suffering from mental health problems and has spoken of his own experiences with bipolar disorder and will join Mr Lamb on the campaign trail.

Speaking ahead of the visit, Mr Lamb said: “Frank is an inspiring champion for mental health. He has spoken very candidly about his experiences, and shares my passion to fight for change. He knows how vital it is that we have MPs in the next parliament who will stand up for people with mental ill health. It will be a pleasure to welcome him back to North Norfolk.”
The meeting point is the Market Cross at 11.30am. Norman and Frank expect to be in North Walsham town centre for at least an hour.
Meanwhile, later in the day, Rt Hon Sajid Javid, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government will be visiting Sheringham with Conservative Candidate James Wild, accompanied by district and county councillors.
Voters will be given an opportunity to question candidates at a hustings being staged at the Parish Church in Cromer on Friday, June 2, at 7.30pm.
