A mistaken too hasty tweet about a Norwich Cathedral carol service is the centre of the latest social media storm.

To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in.

Shadow chancellor Ed Balls, who became a cult social media figure after mistakenly posting his own name in 2012, managed to hit send too early on his tweet about a service at Norwich Cathedral last night.

He simply wrote “Fabulous” - a posting which was quickly re-tweeted more than 1,800 times by his followers.

Mr Balls, whose family live in the city, admitted his mistake, conceding: “Ok, Ok.. I pressed ‘send’ too early.. But thanks for all your ‘fabulous’ replies to my clearly prfound tweet...” (sic)

The original thought, later tweeted was: “Fabulous Carol service at Norwich Cathedral - John Tavener’s The Lamb the highlight, but you can’t beat In the Bleak Mid-Winter.”

  • Yes Ingo. One can only wonder at what was written under Chloe Smith's ridiculous statement about Tom Daley. Probably lots of sensible comments telling her what a twit she is. It was a ridiculous article to put up in the first place and I don't think it is at all supportive of her. Every day that it is there it reminds you of what a plonker she was to make such a silly remark. Maybe the EDP are anti Chloe to leave it there.

  • The Chloe Smith article in its original form was even more risible before being re-hashed into its present form. Go to the Huffinton Post to enjoy the full flavour particularly the first sentence of the 4th para to get some idea of why she was monstered within 10 minutes of the edp article appearing. How she and the edp could fail to see the trap of using the HP article defies belief and can only be explained by her giddy excitement of seeing her name in print at all costs.

  • @ Jeffrey Osborne - 6% they ought to be 20% ahead. Just goes to show how badly Wallace and Grommet are doing! No one wants him sacked least of all me. (Please read what I actually said) He is doing his bit for the Tory cause, week in week out. Please keep it up.

  • Little wonder he is permanently red faced these days! Hoisted by his own petard. What was it he used to bang on about, too fast too deep. Too fast, too deep in it seems to sum him up nowadays.

  • Happy Christmas, Ed Balls! You continue to wind up the likes of BG on here and the Tories who call for your sacking. Yet the opposition is 6pc ahead in the polls and Mr Osborne will be handed his own P45 in a year's time. Keep up the good work! No wonder they mock!

  • Comments under Ms. Smith article, using Tom Daley as her come on to youngsters, enticing them into unpopular and over exposed partynpolitics, have been closed. But feel free to have a go at the Labour frontbench..... and this for all to see.
