The length of a Cromer town centre street will be closed to traffic for 54 days during the autumn.
Norfolk County Council has announced that Canada Road, which runs east to west from Prince of Wales Road to Beach Road, will be closed to allow new pavement kerbs and edgings to be put in.
The council’s traffic order, which runs from September 16 to November 8, means no vehicles will be able to use the road throughout the period of closure.
There is also the possibility that, in “exceptional circumstances” the period could be extended.
Canada Road includes Cromer Library, Cromer fire station, Fox’s Funeral Service and the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses.
A suggested diversion has been put in place. The route is:
■ Anti-clockwise – A149 Prince of Wales Road, U10214 Cadogan Road, U10210 Beach Road
■ Clockwise – A149 Prince of Wales Road, A148 West Street/Holt Road, U10210 Beach Road.
The penalty for breaching the order is a £1,000 maximum fine.
