A much-needed Changing Places toilet is coming to Wells to improve visitor facilities.

North Norfolk District Council has agreed to either provide a capital grant to the Wells Maltings Trust to provide a fully accessible Changing Places facility within the Maltings development. Or it will directly fund such provision with a budget of £40,000 as part of the Wells Maltings and Sackhouse development. The facility will be promoted for use by visitors to the town with special care needs.

NNDC's cabinet heard on Monday, October 30, that this facility, which will allow disabled visitors to use a toilet in comfort, was separate to ongoing talks about the future of the Beach Road toilets in the town.

Councillor Maggie Prior said: 'This will be beneficial for all residents and those that visit.'

The £4.5m Wells Maltings development involves a new community theatre, cafe, tourist information centre and meeting rooms/ exhibition space on Staithe Street.
