City councillors will today decide whether or not to allow a venue on Prince of Wales Road to extend its opening hours to 4am, seven days a week.

The owners of the former Roccos, now known as Bished, have applied to Norwich City Council to tweak its premises licence, allowing it to continue serving alcohol until 3.45 in the morning.

The application also aims to earn the venue, which is run by the Peri family, permission to add plays to the range of entertainment it offers.

The bid will be decided by members of the council’s licensing committee this afternoon (Wednesday, September 26), with Norfolk Police registering concerns around it.

Michelle Bartram, licensing officer at the police, said: “Whilst it is acknowledged the applicant and his representatives have liaised with ourselves regarding conditions such as CCTV, employment of security staff, a search policy and implementation of polycarbonate drinking vessels - all of which are welcomed - Norfolk Constabulary is still of the opinion that the extending of licensing hours and making the last entry time later will undoubtedly make an increased contribution to crime and disorder in the area.”
