Appeal bid to overturn Bodham wind turbine rejection

A controversial wind turbine is set to loom into view again later this month when a pre-appeal hearing is held following its summer rejection by planners.
The bid by family-run firm Genetec to build the 86.5m turbine on the edge of Bodham was unanimously rejected by North Norfolk District Council in August.
Genetec has appealed the decision, and on January 29 and 30 there will be an informal hearing before a planning inspector at the NNDC headquarters at Holt Road, Cromer.
The application split opinion in Bodham and neighbouring communities.
At the August meeting, supporters said it would “make a significant contribution to the local rural economy”, while highlighting the need to generate renewable energy.
But opponents said it would “ruin the lives of innocent people living in its shadow” and “permanently disrupt our landscape”.

for goodness sake people we're not talking a nuclear power station or incinerater, it's one wind turbine miles away from anywhere. Absolutely can't see the problem.Really hope it goes through this time

Windless, the public representations Is not a referendum. It is just the amount of people the antis got to sign one of the 30,000 leaflets they distributed far and wide. And this turbine has no bearing on the notoriously NIMBY Sheringham Town Council, whatever their opinion.

Let's hope that it goes ahead. We need to build hundreds more of these turbines and accept the small inconvenience of having them in our villages and towns. Although having said that, I cannot see anything to dislike about them.

I don't see that citing Sheringham Town Council really affects this debate. Indeed it's worth wondering why they are taking the time and trouble to comment on a proposal well outside their area. Is there nothing actually IN Sheringham that deserves their attention?

To remind you all, a TOTALLY unanimous decision from all on the planning committee and, I seem to recall, a 100% rejection from Sheringham town council as well. That's the councils, the public representations to the application were 1455 against, 366 for.
