Developers have been told more than 200 homes can be built on land running alongside the Northern Distributor Road.

Homebuilders Taylor Wimpey applied to Broadland District Council for outline planning permission to build 205 homes close to the £205m road in Rackheath.

This application is now closer to being a success, with members of the council’s planning committee voting to delegate authority to its head of planning to approve the plans. They recommended approval.

The plans will see a development of houses built off Green Lane West in the village, with the developers also agreeing to provide a heathland side the opposite side of the new road, which is now known as the Broadland Northway.

Richard Seamark, of Carter Jonas, the project’s agent, told the committee the scheme would deliver “significant benefits” to the community, including new open space and a 33pc affordable housing contribution.
