THE Liberal Democrats easily held the Hadleigh North Babergh district council in a by-election on Thursday, with a swing from the Tories of 11.6%. Candidate Richard Whiting had a majority of 185.

THE Liberal Democrats easily held their Hadleigh North seat on Babergh district council in a by-election on Thursday, with a swing from the Tories of 11.6%. Candidate Richard Whiting had a majority of 185.

Result in full: Richard Whiting 446, Peter Burgoyne (Conservative) 261, Jan Byrne (Independent) 138, Reginald Smith (UK Independence Party) 66.
