Police mount ‘plain clothes’ drug operation in King’s Lynn

Officers and members of the special constabulary were joined by two dog handlers and their dogs for patrols of the town centre yesterday.

They spent four hours in the pedestrian areas and the dogs identified 25 positive indications for drugs, after which people were searched.

Only one person was actually found to have drugs on them, a quantity of Temazapam, which was surrendered to officers.

Chief Insp Ady Porter, of King’s Lynn police, said: “We take drug offences extremely seriously and will continue to carry out operations in and around the town to crack down on offenders.

“Drug use is connected to other types of crime and anti-social behaviour and by disrupting the drug chain at every level we are having a positive impact on crime levels.”
