A Norfolk Police spokesman said a report had been received at around 3.45pm that a vehicle had been stolen.

A helicopter was initially sent to the scene at Barnham Cross Common but has now been stood down. The aircraft was on its way from Leicestershire but turned back as the pilot had reached his limit of available flying hours.

Officers are now in the Ash Close area searching for the quad bike.

  • I suppose we would like to think it was being sought because it has been used in a crime. The local plod usually shrug their shoulders about quad bikes when reported as being driven all over growing crops-can't possibly trace them once the kids have got them back to their community settlements. 1 in 20 of UK prisoners from an " ethnic" minority, intimate bits of anatomy cut off, shot gun murders on going rural crime and still no one in government addresses the problem of criminality in minority which deliberately isolates its young people from the rest of the community. Not saying this event is related, but there are precendents. Tempted to say purchase ownership and use should depend on having a driving licence

  • No logic in using a helicopter searching for a stolen quad bike but then plod likes to play with his toys while ignoring most normal crime. What is wrong with the normal technique of issuing a crime number and sending a letter from victim support?

  • What's the point of a police helicopter that is at least 45 minutes away? The bad guys will be well away by then.

  • What about the Norfolk police helicopter? .... And why did a helicopter start flying from Leicestershire when the pilot was so close to his hours limit that he would never be able to arrive in Norfolk!!!!
