Police were called to deal with a horse that had got loose and strayed onto a Norwich road today.

A Norfolk police spokesman said that they had been inundated with calls from the public about the horse which was spotted on the Sweet Briar Road, near the allotments and the Bayer CropScience base, in the west of the city, just before midday on Sunday.

The police spokesman said the horse was quickly caught and tethered by just after midday, and said that it was safe and well.
