Police need to trace an elderly man after he approached a 16-year-old girl in Beccles.

The teenager was waiting to cross St Marys Road near the junction with Grange Road at about 8.45am last Tuesday when a silver vehicle stopped to let her cross.

The 16-year-old continued on her way up Grange Road but was followed by the vehicle. At the junction with Ashmans Road the car drove off along Upper Grange Road and the girl continued walking in the same direction.

Moments later the car stopped beside her and the driver – a man described as white, in his 70s to 80s, with grey wispy receding hair and stubble – opened the car door and asked her a question.

The 16-year-old told him to leave her alone and ran off.

Police need to trace the man and are asking him, anyone who knows who he is, or anyone who saw the incident or the vehicle in the area, to call PC 1567 Alder by calling Suffolk Police on 101.
