The boy was with his family – including his mum and dad – in Earsham Street at around 11.30am yesterday. The group were talking to some family friends when a man approached the 10-year-old and put his hand under his bottom.

The boy told his parents and his dad went over to the man to confront him about what happened.

The offender claimed he had accidentally touched the boy, before walking away.

He is described as white, in his 50s, of chubby build, around 5ft 10ins tall, with short wavy, messy mousey greying hair, wearing a T-shirt, blue trousers/ jeans, a bright white cap and carrying a messenger-style bag.

Police were informed of the incident a short time later and officers are appealing for anyone who saw what happened or anyone with information about the man involved.
