Police have warned people to stay alert in Wells following a money switch scam.

On May 31 two incidents occurred in both Broadland and north Norfolk involving four women and one man, believed to be Eastern European, who appeared to be targeting antique shops with a money switch scam.

While this was going on others members of the gang were stealing property from within the shop.

A police spokesman said: 'It is possible that the offenders have now left the area, but please be mindful if you have this type of business.'

Also in the Wells area there has been a report that a man, driving a van, spoke to an occupant of a house with an advertising sign outside for a roofing company.

He told the occupant that he was working as a subsidiary of the advertised firm and that he could undercut the previous price if he was paid there and had the work done the next day.

The man had an Irish accent, was wearing a green top, was around 40 years old and of thin build. It is believed there was a second male in the vehicle.
