Police appeal following fatal crash at Horstead

A driver remains in a critical condition following a head-on collision that resulted in the death of another motorist on Friday.

Officers from Norfolk Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Team are appealing for witnesses following the fatal crash in Horstead.

The collision happened at about 1.50pm on the B1150 Norwich Road on Friday when a 1973 red Rover 3500cc and a blue Vauxhall Agila were involved in a head-on collision.

The driver of the Vauxhall, a woman in her 60s, died at the scene while the male front seat passenger suffered a broken leg and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital where he remains.

The male driver of the Rover suffered serious head, chest and leg injuries and was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. The man has since been transferred to Papworth where he condition is described as critical.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information concerning the driving manner of either vehicle prior to the collision.
