Pilot scheme aimed at keeping pupils active launched at Kinsale infant and junior schools in Hellesdon
A new pilot scheme aimed at keeping pupils and their parents active has been launched at a school in Hellesdon.
The bike, walk, scoot club asks children and parents to commit to making active journeys at least three-days-a-week.
It was launched Kinsale Infant and Junior schools in Hellesdon, near Norwich, on September 28.
Should the pilot project be successful, it could be rolled out at other schools across Norfolk.
Broadland District Council is behind the initiative and worked with police and the county council on the programme.
Carolyn Baxter, head teacher at Kinsale Junior School, said: “When you ask children what they want, most of them like to be active and would prefer to walk, cycle or scoot to school.
“Children who’ve had an active journey to school arrive calm and alert and ready to learn and that’s what we all want to see.”
