As footballing passions across the globe reached fever pitch, Swaffham Carnival was given a World Cup theme on the day of the final.
A few hours before Germany and Argentina take to the field in Brazil, there was a range of football-themed games, entertainment and circus skills on the Campingland in Swaffham.
Community groups and charities also had stalls and joined in with a parade through the town, carrying the flags of some of the nations who qualified for the competition.
Among the characters on show were Spanish footballers, an Italian waiter, and Siberian huskies representing Russia.
Dennis Tallon, chair of the Iceni Partnership which organised and funded the event, said: “The carnival is not the old grand carnival with the big parades of floats, because of Health and Safety and insurance. It has become more of a village green fete.
“It is very intimate and friendly, on a beautiful setting on the Campingland, and it gives the feel of a village fete for the community.
“Most of the organisations here are community-based and it is an ideal opportunity for them to have fun, but also to demonstrate what they do and inform the rest of Swaffham.”
