Olympic torch in King's Lynn

Thousands of people lined the streets of King’s Lynn to welcome the Olympic Torch as it arrived in Norfolk from Lincolnshire today.

Crowds lined the main London Road as the Torch came in through the Southgates before following a town centre course and heading to Lynnsport.

Flag-waving and cheering was the order of the day for excited children who were given flags to show their support.

It was a double celebration for a Downham Market couple who made the trip on July 4 - American Independence Day.

Robert Humphrey serves with the United States Airforce and was in town with his wife Katy and their eight-year-old daughter Megan.

“We are really looking forward to it and I am glad it is all happening while I am stationed over here,” said Mr Humphrey.

The torch will continue its journey to the Royal Estate at Sandringham at 2pm before heading across the county to Fakenham.
