Crowds roared with anticipation as the countdown began to an explosive firework display.

The Lord Mayor, Judith Lubbock, spoke from City Hall and encouraged the audience to thank all the organisers who had ensured the smooth running of the biggest celebration in Norwich of the year.

The atmosphere was electric as the first fireworks rose into the air to the sound of Nina Simone’s ‘I’m Feeling Good.’

The pace then picked up as the crowd cheered to the likes of Razorlight and Toploader.

Bradley Sharp, five, from Aylsham said of another song to accompany the display: “I liked Insomnia.”

Brother Liam Sharp, 12, added: “I’ve enjoyed the Lord Mayor’s processionand I loved the fireworks.”

The display, which lasted approximately ten minutes, received a brilliant reception from the audience who clapped and whooped for more.

Iain Debozie, 12, from Norwich, said: “I come here every year, it was even better this year.”

Jennifer Johnson, 36, from Norwich, said what a wonderful event the celebration is for all the family and that she goes to the firework display every year.

She added: “It’s fantastic and I enjoyed the music, it was very funny. It’s a great way to end the day.”
