Youngsters took inspiration from an Olympic medallist as efforts were raised to boost the profile of badminton.
Nathan Robertson, Britain’s most successful British badminton player in recent times, shared his tips and knowledge with Norfolk’s up-and-coming badminton stars at Dereham Leisure Centre this weekend.
The eight-times Commonwealth Games medallist and Olympic silver medallist helped coach county squads, from the under 11s to under 17s. Youngsters, aged eight to 11, from the area were also given the chance to try badminton and meet Mr Robertson.
The ambassador for Badminton England said: “It’s good to come to places like Norfolk which isn’t close to any national centres and where players don’t often get the opportunity to meet ex-national and world class players.”
