Mike Page’s aerial shots show the comparison between the peaceful town’s market square before and after the blaze. And EDP photographer Matthew Usher scaled the church tower to focus on the damaged buildings.

As Fakenham comes to terms with the loss of one of its most recognisable buildings – and residents mourn the loss of their possessions – the images emphasise how thankful we can be that no lives were lost.

Mayor Jeremy Punchard said: “It’s a tragic loss of a beautiful building that’s part of the conservation area. It’s devastating, not only for people who work there but for the town.”
