A Beccles man’s Abraham Lincoln impersonation has been signed up to promote the former US president’s home state.
Professional lookalike Edmond Wells has been in London wearing the unmistakable top hat, bow tie and beard to promote tourism in Illinois, USA.
The 58-year-old, who has brought his Basil Fawlty impression to the EDP Wedding Show, landed the premier new role in time for the release of Steven Spielberg’s new film about the country’s 16th president.
But, unlike leading man Daniel Day-Lewis, Mr Wells, who also doubles as villain Jaws and half-giant Hagrid from Harry Potter, had little time to get into character before heading to London for a photo shoot promoting tourism in Lincoln’s home state of Illinois.
Mr Wells said: “I had an email from an entertainment agent asking if I’d be able to do it. I was at a standing start and had to be Abe within four days.”
There he posed for photos on the underground, riding a “Boris Bike” and standing outside Westminster.
Nearly 3,000 people have supported a Facebook campaign demanding safety improvements on the A47 near Dereham set up after the latest fatal crash.
