There was a Mustang P51, Spitfire and an Edge 360 among the big players at the Heritage Wings and Wheels airshow.

Event organiser Eric Ratcliffe, 66, said weather and record crowds made the Sunday event “epic”.

“Everyone said it was a brilliant day. People just love airshows, they love seeing the old cars and vehicles too.”

Stunning displays by the Pitts Wildcats, the Red Sparrows Chipmunk display team and the Aerostars with their Yak 50s impressed the 5,000 people with their formation aerobatics.

The Wildcat Aerobatics team came together three years ago after like-minded pilots got together to form Norfolk’s premier formation aerobatic display team. There were aircraft from the past too, including Harvards, Pitts, Steermans, Piper Cubs, Austers and Tigers Moths.

And F1 cars from Classic Team Lotus impressed visitors, as did the tractor contest.

The new “e-Go” prototype aeroplane was displayed by chief test pilot Keith Dennison, who wanted to showcase what can be achieved by a single seat de-regulated aircraft.

Other interesting aircraft included a Jungmann, a Wattisham air sea rescue Sea King helicopter and a Jantar Glider, which performed aerobatics.

The show raised more than £4,000 for the charity Care For Life At Home Fund.
