The East Anglian Air Ambulance landed on Sheringham beach this afternoon to help a woman who had possibly broken an ankle.

The incident happened at about 1.30pm-1.45pm when the town was busy with Easter visitors and large crowds lined the promenade to watch the drama below.

Eye witness Charles Clover said he understood the middle-aged woman had fallen on the west slipway.

The helicopter and its crew had tended to her for about 20 minutes and then airlifted her off the beach.

'There were quite a knot of them helping on the beach, including a first responder, or paramedic, who was there first and presumably couldn't move her,' said Mr Clover, who was visiting the town with his family from their home in Suffolk.

His son Charlie, 14, took photos of the scene.
