Hundreds of people in Southwold have been given a close up look at the type of rescue operations carried out town's RNLI lifeboat.
On Saturday people lined the promenade and took to the beach to watch a dramatic rescue demonstration as part of the annual Southwold life boat day.
Southwold's lifeboat the Annie Tranmer was joined by a RAF Air Sea rescue helicopter, a local fishing boat and RNLI life guards to demonstrate how the RNLI saves lives at sea.
The demonstrations saw the RAF Sea King helicopter winch someone to safety as the lifeboat crew raced to the rescue of a group of mariners who had been forced to abandon their fishing boat.
The crew of the fishing boat were played by members of the Southwold lifeboat station, which was open to visitors throughout the day. Other events included a sandcastle competition, sponsored by Suzie's Beach Café and judged by Southwold's deputy mayor Simon Tobin.
