A little girl was left smiling from ear to ear after she was given a £6,000 bright pink wheelchair.

Izzie Eve, five, and her family were pleasantly surprised when they were presented with the chair at the match in her name.

The youngster, from Beetley, suffers from cerebral palsy and is unable walk.

Her mum Caroline Eve said: 'It will make such a difference.

'There are so many things that people don't think about that you just can't do.

'When I walk down the street I will be able to hold her hand which I can't do at the moment.

'When all the other kids run on the playground she will be able to join in with them.'

After being receiving her new chair at half-time Izzie could be seen racing around the ground with pink balloons streaming out behind.

Mrs Eve said: 'It is just phenomenal to see her so happy.

'I had no idea they had bought the chair.

'I just can't stop smiling and I think that will carry on for a few days.

'You can see how happy she is, I think we will have trouble getting her out of it. She will probably be sleeping in it tonight.'

The game was played at Dereham Town's Aldiss Park stadium with around 1,000 fans coming through the gates to see their former favourites.

A final score line of 4-4 meant everyone went home happy.

Organiser Rob Court said: 'It has been a really good day, the weather has been kind to us and I think we have had about 1,000 here.

'We still don't know how much we have raised on the day but I think it is about £12,000 to £14,000 on top of the wheelchair.

'The point of today was to get the wheelchair and we have done that, now the question is who else can we help.

'I think this could be the beginning of something.'

Mr Court said that they are considering setting up a foundation with the money raised.

Mrs Eve added: 'I can keep saying thank you for the rest of my life and it won't be enough.

'They will never know how much this means to us.

'It is just amazing to see so many people here, and all the players.'

As well as famous footballers celebrities also strutted their stuff on the pitch including singer Shayne Ward, actor Dean Gaffney and TV personality Tubes.

There was also an auction of memorabilia and a raffle as well as refreshment stalls to help raise extra funds.
