Jugglers, stilt walkers and Santa’s elves entertained crowds as hundreds watched the switch-on at Diss.

The carnival king and queen, Ollie and Lucy, were driven through the town centre in a Rolls Royce and a procession including a vintage fire engine with Father Christmas and a tank with the mayor, followed.

The lights were switched on by Desmond Tebble, nominated by the public for work with Diss town football club and for charity.

Lorries supplied by the East Coast Truckers also cruised through the town and played music.

Carole Lane, who lives in Diss and went to the switch-on with her grandson, Kai, four, said: “I bring Kai here every year. This year has been great and there has been a lot to do.”
