Thousands of spectators lined the streets of a seaside resort in Norfolk yesterday to get revved up for more than 500 Harley Davidson motorbikes as they rode into town.

The Fenlanders Chapter of the Harley Owners Group descended into Sheringham from Fakenham for its annual rally.

It is the third time the bikers have rode into the town and the two-mile-long rally helped to support this year’s carnival, as organiser and The Lobster landlord Graham Deans explained.

“It’s a major attraction for Harley enthusiasts and tourists,” he said.

“This year we are rasing money for carnival medical equipment - defibrillators - and we are hoping to raise between £1,500 and £2,000 from the event.

“It’s the first major event prior to the carnival and as soon as they arrive in the town they are immediately lined-up, inch perfect.

“It’s our aim now to have the road lined-up with people from Fakenham to Sheringham all the way. We’ve managed Weybourne to Sheringham before but now it’s our aim to do the whole route.”

The bikes were displayed in the town for about three hours.

The rally was led by road captain Neil Sturman and also helped to raise funds for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
