Thetford remembrance parade was one of the biggest and best in living memory, according to those who attended.

Hundreds of people of all ages turned out to the Market Place to remember those who have fallen in conflicts throughout the years.

The parade, which included veterans, army cadets, brownies, scouts and numerous others dignitaries and representatives from the armed services was led into the town centre to the sound of bagpipes.

After hymns and prayers, the crowd fell silent in remembrance.

Thetford mayor Terry Lamb said: “In all my long experience of these things, which goes back to 1963, this is probably the best turn out I can recollect.

“I think people should be aware of the sacrifice that other people have made in the past and not just think of themselves all the time and this is the moment they can do that.”
