Photo gallery and video: Norwich Theatre Royal reveals its new season of shows

West End hits, poignant drama and spectacular skating are among the array of productions coming to the city as Norwich Theatre Royal today announces its new season of shows.
Evita, the story of Eva Peron’s journey from unknown to powerful wife to saint, is among the musical highlights. The Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber show features songs such as Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, Oh What A Circus and Another Suitcase In Another Hall, and will take to the stage from July 15 to 27.
High Society – based on the hit 1956 movie starring Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly – will be at the theatre earlier in July, and Birdsong, a poignant tale of love, war-time bravery and sacrifice, will visit Norwich in the same month.
The Old Vic and West End smash-hit comedy Noises Off, by Michael Frayn, will be in Norwich in May, and in June the TV comedy Rising Damp gets an on-stage makeover.
There are high-energy shows for music fans, beginning with The Blues Brothers in March; Jersey Nights featuring the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons in May; and Bohemian Rhapsody, celebrating the music of Freddie Mercury and Queen in June.
Outrageous cult classic The Rocky Horror Show will return in June, and The Imperial Ice Stars will be in Norwich in May and June to perform Sleeping Beauty On Ice.
Illusionist Derren Brown will visit from June 10 to 15 with his new show.
Among the theatre’s one-night shows, Robert Cray will perform his blues and soul music on March 10, The Soldiers are back on April 3, and That’ll Be The Day presents its new 2013 show on April 6 with its mix of live music from the golden age of pop and comedy.
The Solid Silver 60s Show is on April 28, and people can re-live the hits of Jeff Lynne and his band with the ELO Experience on May 26.
Sing-A-Long-A-Grease is on June 27. For comedy fans, Russell Kane will be at the theatre on April 21, Al Murray The Pub Landlord on June 16, and Ken Dodd on July 21.
Family entertainment includes the Chuckle Brothers Meet The Phantom on April 4 and Northern Ballet’s Ugly Duckling on May 3.
The stars of Show Me Show Me from CBeebies bring the Chris and Pui Roadshow to the stage on June 30, and The Little Princess and Scruff, Noddy and Tessie Bear, Roary and Big Chris, Fifi and Bumble, and the Bananas In Pyjamas join forces for Milkshake Live on August 4.
