The sixth annual Norwich Body Art Festival (NBAF) took place at Open on Saturday and Sunday. It saw about 80 tattoo artists demonstrate their skills, with many festival-goers leaving the event decorated in new and unique works of art.

NBAF co-founder Emma Garwood said: “It’s been phenomenal. The quality of the work goes up every year and there are lots of new amazing artists.”

The event also included a solo art exhibition featuring the work of London-based tattoo artist Xed Le Hed who specialises in geometric dotwork, and entertainment throughout the weekend included London’s Voodoo Binmen, dancer/sword swallower Leah Debrincat, burlesque performer Lou Safire, and Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School featuring burlesque performer Luna Rose.

Emma said the whole festival was about spectacle.

“We started the weekend off with a guy tightrope walking across the main hall which looked amazing and it was kind of symbolic of the weekend, that kind of height of performance and spectacle.”
