City of Women, a performance event staged by Words and Women in collaboration with Chalk Circle Theatre Company, moved around the city centre today and saw the performers read out inspirational texts to their audience of passers by.

The event was inspired by Michelle Obama’s “When they go low, we go high” speech and was raising funds for ECPAT UK, a charity campaigning against child-trafficking and transnational child exploitation.

It saw readings take place at The Forum, Intu Chapelfield, Gentlemen’s Walk, outside Jarrold, outside the Book Hive, and St George’s Bridge in St George’s Street.

City of Women is part of a week-long celebration to launch Words and Women’s fourth anthology of contemporary women’s writing published by Unthank Books. For more information about the book and other events, visit www.wordsandwomennorwich.blogspot.co.uk
