Pedestrian in her 60s suffers serious injuries after being hit by car near RAF Mildenhall

A pedestrian has suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car in Beck Row.

Police were called by a member of the public shortly after 4.30pm today to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the A1101 near to Rookery Drove, near to RAF Mildenhall.

A black Mercedes collided with a woman, aged in her 60s, who was walking on the pavement, causing her serious injuries.

The woman was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, by air ambulance and the male driver of the Mercedes was taken to West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds. His injuries are not believed to be serious.

The road is currently closed while Suffolk Constabulary’s Serious Collision Investigation Team carry out an investigation.

Any witnesses to the incident are asked to contact PC Jason Lambourne at the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101.
