Two men have been rescued by Sheringham Lifeboat crew after a kayak capsized in swelling seas.
The man whose craft had turned over in the water was taken to hospital for observation and checks.
The pair’s plight was spotted by a former member of the RNLI team at Sheringham who notified a current member of the crew just after 6.30pm yesterday.
A man in a second kayak who was trying to make for the beach in the difficult conditions was advised to wait offshore until the lifeboat could help him too.
A lifeboat spokesman said the swell had been building all afternoon and by high water, at 7.30pm, it was running at about 1.5m. Conditions had made it very difficult for the kayaks to run ashore in the fading light. Both men were checked by paramedics on site.
The lifeboat crew were helmsman Tony Webster, plus Liam Cooper, Chris Wright and Kate Webster.
