Two people have been charged after an 85-year-old woman suffered two dislocated fingers in an alleged mugging.

The victim also suffered cuts during the incident at around 2.40pm on Saturday in an underpass in Croxton Road.

The victim was walking through the underpass when she was pushed over and had her handbag stolen.

Sergejs Mihailovs, 41, and Jana Mihailova, 19, were both subsequently charged with robbery and remanded in custody to appear at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Police were called and units attended the area within a couple of minutes and closed the underpass. A search was carried out resulting in a man and a woman being arrested and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
