A dilapidated phone box has been given a new lease of life as a tourist information point.
The faded call box in Overstrand has undergone a makeover – with leaflet racks, a noticeboard and information panels replacing its tatty telephone – and has been moved from its former home in Paul’s Lane to a prime location in the village. It now sits beside a village map, noticeboard and plaques detailing Overstrand’s history and local attractions.
Bruce Stratton, who spearheaded the project after the box was bought for £1 by the parish council, said: “I should think everyone’s delighted with their investment because it’s turned it into a useful, functional information point.
“It has also tidied up a corner of the village and it will become quite a focal point.”
North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb is set to officially open the new-look phone box at 3pm today.
