An mini-series which was filmed around Great Yarmouth will be premiered later on this month.

The project, Our Town will involves intertwining storylines on issues such as bullying, lonesomeness and deprivation, but will also have stories of determination, grit and positivity in the town.

Its premier of episodes one and two will be shown in full at St Georges theatre in Yarmouth on Friday, September 29 at 5pm.

It was the idea of 33-year-old Steve Farrell who appealed for the local people of Yarmouth to get involved and be a part of the series. He received an overwhelming response with dozens of people from different walks of life contacting him to get involved.

Mr Farrell said: 'I had some time over the summer and spoke with some friends back in late June about wanting to create a drama series based in Great Yarmouth, creating characters and stories covering all aspects of life and using real locations and real towns people.

'I was able to connect with a range of people from all over town who wanted to take part and be involved. This meant the cast was extended and the help behind the scenes was overwhelming. To date across the 12 episodes filmed, we have had a staggering 70 cast members which is quite unusual for a small scale production like this.

'Now that the premier is upon us, I'm very nervous as I hope I've done it all justice and I feel that pressure every day. I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea but I hope at least some people enjoy it and can connect with the characters and stories.

'I also hope people can appreciate what we have achieved to actually get to this point as we had no budget what so ever and therefore had to use what we had available to us in terms of locations and props which I guess just added to it looking authentic. I'm really grateful to all those who let us use indoor properties as that was quite vital.

'I've felt nervous throughout the process because this has all been new to me and I've had to learn many things. This was about creating a drama based on real life issues but then also became equally about creating a community project, bringing people of all backgrounds together, something which has made it very special and even got us shortlisted in the EDP Norfolk arts awards.'
