Heart Radio last month said the Breakfast with Rob and Chrissie show would be broadcast for the time on December 20.

Now Radio Norwich 99.9 has announced that the city will be waking up to the new Rob Chandler Breakfast show from New Year’s Day.

The DJ said: “I’m really looking forward to waking up the city in the new year with my new breakfast show on Radio Norwich 99.9.

“The listeners will have a big part to play on the show; choosing some of the music and joining in with loads of fun stuff. Competitions, characters and lots of laughs, it’ll truly be local radio at its best.

“You won’t hear talk of the Copdock Interchange or the same songs day in, day out. What you are going to hear is great music to wake up to and everything you need to set you up for the day. It will be local radio for our local listeners.”

From 1st January, Geoff Hillyer and Greg Powles will also appear on the station.

David Lovell, Group CEO for Anglian Radio Ltd, said: “This is an extremely exciting time for Radio Norwich 99.9. We are delighted to have Rob Chandler as part of the team and leading the city’s local radio station into 2014.

“Rob is a well-known personality in the city and we know that our listeners will give him a great big welcome. We are certain that he will help build on the success of Radio Norwich 99.9.

“We truly believe in local radio and giving our listeners all the news, travel and sport that is important to them, as well as lots of interactive fun along the way. This new line-up can mean only one thing: that Radio Norwich 99.9 will go from strength to strength in 2014.”

The Rob Chandler Breakfast Show will be on Radio Norwich 99.9 from January 1, Monday-Friday, from 6am.

  • Mooseyt3 Carry on watching Kyle on daytime tv and ignore the radio. Such a sweeping statement about the Facebook page that have posts by people who care about the loss of a good presenter.

  • Oh come on. Rob has been on the radio since 84! His days are done. I won't be listening Radio Norwich, you are just appealing to the stupid demographic demonstrated on the "Save Rob & Chrissy" facebook page, bored housewives and youngsters who don't know any better.
