The new Reepham Tennis Club will open to members and the public next week thanks to Olympic legacy funding.

The tennis courts at Stimpson’s Piece were completely refurbished, and the site includes two re-surfaced multi-sports courts, a new patio area with seating, a clubhouse and upgraded floodlights.

The club received £45,762 grant from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Fund, and a £10,000 community grant from Broadland Council towards refurbishing the existing courts, as well as £1,000 from the National Lawn Tennis Association for free taster and educational events in local schools next spring.

Club chairman Tony Gurney-Read said: “The new courts look fantastic and everyone on the committee and all those local residents who have contacted us are very eager to start playing tennis.

“We may have missed the summer months and we had some very frustrating set-backs with progress of the works due to the poor weather over the summer, but what’s important is that Reepham now has a new tennis club and a superb sports facility which we hope all members of the local community will use and enjoy for many years to come.”

The club opens on Monday October 1. See, email or call Tony Gurney-Read on 01603 873297.
