Tributes have been paid to a “caring and wonderful son” and “the most dedicated of physics teachers,” who has died following a road crash just 10 weeks before he was due to marry.

Twenty-six-year-old Robbie Schofield, who trained for his PGCE teaching qualification at the University of East Anglia, died on Friday after the black Yamaha motorcycle he was riding was in collision with a silver Nissan Note on the A327 Reading Road in Finchampstead, in Berkshire.

Robbie, who lived in Reading, was the grandson of the late Victor Brenner, of Norwich-based law firm Hatch Brenner, and he had taught at Wymondham College and Diss High School during his teacher training in 2010/2011.

His family, including his father Mark Schofield, mother Lizzie White, stepfather Nigel White, fiancée Megs Dimbylow, and four siblings, has said in tribute to him: “The family and friends of the young man killed on Friday in a motorcycle accident on the A327 are all totally devastated and distraught.

“The loss of 26-year-old Robbie Schofield has cruelly cut short the life of a most beloved, caring and wonderful son, brother, grandson and friend.

“Robbie was the most dedicated of physics teachers at Farnborough Hill. He cared passionately about young people and devoted much of his free time to youth work and reaching out to help friends, family and young people.

“He was a member of Vineyard Church in Reading and had a strong faith, playing in the worship band. As well as being a very talented musician and song writer, he was also a qualified sailing instructor.

“He leaves behind his fiancée, Megs, to whom he was to be married in 10 weeks time, parents and four siblings (Jack, Tabby, Millie and George). He will be missed with every passing moment but forever in our hearts.”

Robbie’s father Mark Schofield lives in Dunston and Robbie’s brother George lives in Norwich.

The driver of the Nissan, a 33-year-old man from Hampshire, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed until Monday, September 15.

• Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle before the crash should call investigator Harry Wilkinson at the Road Death Investigation Unit on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or at
