A charity football match organised by staff from The Nottingham's Norfolk branches raised hundreds of pounds for two young athletes.

Colleagues from the society's Dereham, Thetford and Fakenham branches arranged the match, which was played on Sunday September 9 at Rocklands All Saints ground in Attleborough.

DESA beat Rockland United FC 6-2 and just over £400 was raised for SportsAid through refreshments, stalls and a raffle.

Another £100 donation will also be split between organisations chosen by the two teams who participated.

Thetford branch customer services consultant Megan Colley said: 'We aimed to raise a couple of hundred pounds so to make more than double that was fantastic. It's money that will go to great causes.'

England girls youth international footballer Blue Wilson, 16, from Sheringham and wheelchair athletics star Will Smith, 22, who lives near Dereham and has competed at the Commonwealth Games and the World Junior Championships will benefit from the money raised.
