Steve Edwin, who is playing the policeman in Aladdin, spent yesterday morning taking part in a storytelling session and said the youngsters at the event were fabulous.

He said: “I read the original story of Aladdin and the children didn’t just listen, I encouraged them to join in with actions, getting them to pull faces and do some miming to the story.

“They were great little actors.

“I think it’s really important to make the children feel fully involved, and watching their little faces light up made it a great success.”
