The show, which will be directed by the theatre’s artistic director Genevieve Raghu, will be performed from December 19 until January 5, and rehearsals will start on October 15. There are roles for actors aged 18 to 65 in the play based on the classic children’s story about three children forced to move from London to a cottage near a railway in rural Yorkshire after their father is taken away from them in mysterious circumstances. The first auditions are from 5.30pm tomorrow and Wednesday. There is also an opportunity for a volunteer designer to work with the show’s set designer Stuart Hembrow, who has worked for companies including Glyndebourne and the Royal Court.

To book an audition or for more about the design role email Miss Raghu at genevieve.raghu@maddermarket.org or call 01603 626560.

  • I am a little concerned with the wording of this article, as it states there are roles for actors aged 18 to 65 in the play. Nowhere does it suggest like most of the excellent productions from the Maddermarket, that this will be an amateur production, which means the actors will not get paid. As the local Equity secretary, I have close on four hundred members in my area, many desperate for work, I am worried some of them may think this is a wonderful opportunity for paid work, only to have their hopes dashed when applying. I wish to production well, as I know they try and make it as professional as possible, but sadly no pay. Peachy Mead ( Secretary East Anglian Equity Branch)
