It was ‘duck and dive’, 25, for a Norwich bingo hall this weekend.
That’s because Mecca Bingo, in Aylsham Road, held a special day of celebrations to mark 25 years since it opened back in 1988.
It was also a special day for the bingo club’s operations manager, Ruth Lambert, who has been at the club since it first opened and worked her way up from her first role as an administrator.
Mrs Lambert, 60, said: “It certainly doesn’t feel like 25 years, but I guess that’s what happens when you love your job and work with a fantastic team of people.
“It’s becoming more and more difficult to have such a long career with the same company nowadays, so I feel very lucky and proud to have achieved this.”
To celebrate the anniversary, the Mile Cross bingo hall held a Firecracker event, with a prize pot of £30,000 on offer during the course of the night.
As well as a chance to win a jackpot prize of £5,000, there were 17 chances to win house prizes starting at £1,000 and no win on the night was less than £100.
Mrs Lambert, who lives close by to the bingo hall, added: “It’s been absolutely fantastic, very good fun. We’ve had a lot of people in tonight who were all around when the place first opened.
“It’s been lovely, we had a cake and they bought me some lovely flowers.”
